Carol Braidi

Behind the scenes at the landmark Chinese Theatre is Carol Braidi, a savvy businesswoman with almost 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur in small businesses and retail locally and in international markets.  The youngest of three in the Samaha family, Carol was born in Beirut, Lebanon and moved to Los Angeles in her early teens.  She went to Marshall High School, graduated from junior college and married a Lebanese entrepreneur, prompting her return to Lebanon while she built a family and assisted her husband in the business of trout farm fishing.  She also ventured in the import and export of retail items between the US and Lebanon.

In the 80’s, Carol and her husband moved with their two boys permanently to Los Angeles.  Their business grew from dry cleaning franchises, and quickly diversified into the buying and selling of antiques. She and her late husband helped build Samaha and Associates in 1980, a joint venture between her siblings Elie and Demitri Samaha and herself.  In 1988, she began opening and operating restaurants including the Benvenuto, Mexico, Kubar Mediterranean Fresh, and Java Universe as part of that joint venture. Their newest venture, The Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard is an historic retail center that includes a renowned movie theater complex as well as retail and entertainment venues.  As Treasurer of Samaha and Associates, Carol has supervision of all payables and receivables and overall accounting.  She also oversees the day-to-day operations of the Chinese gift shops, Supper Club, Roxbury and Hemingway.
